THE SYDNEY TEAPOT SHOW
25 August – 17 September 2017

After 29 years the Sydney Teapot Show comes to Newtown. Inspired, ridiculous, comical and intriguing teapots will feature in the competition and exhibition. On the evening of Friday 25 August the show was opened by James Valentine of ABC radio and television and the winners announced.

Winning Teapots: 2017

All teapots are hand made ceramics by potters from around Australia with some work flying in from overseas locations. Prizes are provided by supportive businesses such as Gleebooks whose category this year is a teapot on the theme of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Comber Consultants, a Research Institute specialising in Australian Archaeology and Heritage Management sponsor the category, Unearthing Australia while T Totaler, an artisan loose leaf tea store in Newtown and in The Galeries (George Street, Sydney) will provide a prize for the teapot winning The People’s Choice.

Pottery Suppliers, Keane Ceramics have given a prize for a pot on the theme of Creativitea and Walkers Ceramics selected The Supreme Teapot: Best in Show. The Australian Ceramics Association aims for Practicalitea and gave an award to the best functional teapot; a pleasure to use and a delight to behold.

Over the years The Sydney Teapot Show has become an institution. It is a wonderful opportunity for the ceramics community to give expression to a fertile imagination and for collectors to find a new cause for celebration. All are welcome to visit the exhibition and cast their vote in the People’s Choice. We are open seven days during The Teapot Show.
